After spotting a F10 gust on Cambermet yesterday, I popped down to
Chichester
Harbour and was very surprised to see a 420 out sailing - spinnaker and all.
It was an impressive sight to behold in weather that even windsurfers would
think twice about!
Sensibly, there was a rescue boat tailing them.

The 420 has a reputation for being great fun and fairly managable in a
blow but even id be thinking twice before going out when its gusting
10, let alone flying the kite!!
much credit to them for going for it though, must have been a fantastic ride!!

i went out for my first time in a 420 when it was blowing about a 6 with my little brother as crew, whos not very experienced and he was finding it difficult to trapeze, to get out there and not go round the forestay a couple of times, nice boats when its blowy but id imagine not the most exciting when its not very windy

Just to put the record straight - there was only one F10 gust at 10am, most
of the time it was gusting F8 to F9. Still very windy though!
Now, where's my anorak...

maybe it was blown away as you stood at the waterfront pontificating
along hte lines of; 'hmmm, reckon I could give it a bash if I got
meself a wideboy on the wire...'
|
More like, I left it in the nice warm sailing club bar...
