http://www.rospa.com/leisuresafety/Info/Watersafety/inland-waters-risk-assessment.pdf" rel="nofollow - At the very least, it is inland. Considerably so . See the (terrible) chart on page 4 of this RoSPA report- the shorter the bar, the riskier the activity, and it is a log scale.

Safer even than rowing.

Windsurfing is safer, surely inland kite surfing is almost non-existent in the UK?

Raw data tables, which include coastal fatalities, http://www.nationalwatersafety.org.uk/waid/reports.asp" rel="nofollow - are here

Not if they're thrown at you. Who in their right mind is going to thrown a great white at you? I suspect that their tails flipping around would stop you picking it up, either that or they would bite you. Very dangerous that, is it in the stats?

"Great White Shark Tossing".. it's in there between "Run down by a Whale (aka V2)" and "Really Mr Ainslie, I was only wanting to take your picture"

I believe that more people are killed by spoons than by guns in the UK.

Does it say if the spoons are thrown?

I'm starting to lean towards government intervention and a countrywide ban on throwing things. As usual though they won't think it through properly. There will be loopholes of course, such as tossing. The countryside will be full of weekend t**sers before you know it. And the Daily Express will be in uproar
