Hello,
I'm surprised that J. Kostecki and T. Slingsby have a "grinder" role added to their job of tactician and strategist.
How can they focus on their main task when theiy are grinding (what ?) at the same time ?

Other question : I don't see any "strategist" for ETNZ. Rob Davies is doing tactics and strategy ?

Enjoy sailing ...
Lambert

I figured they were just grinding for the general hydraulic levels like most of the guys. The boats are short staffed with 11 people so they cant afford to have people onboard who are not grinding. I guess they are just good at what they do and that means they can grind and do their proper roles in much the same way that Mo Farah can run fast AND work out what pace he needs to be running at so he runs the best tactical race.

I havent a clue where the boundaries between tactician and strategist lie, to me they seem so intertwined that they are better off being done by 1 person.

The strategist tells the tactician where you should go on the course.
The tactician tells you how to get there, considering the other boat(s).

Having tacticians perform multiple roles is commonplace as crew numbers reduce and workloads go up. Arguably though its not working out so well in this case. Ray Davies is certainly spending a lot less time staring at his feet...

Rumour is Ainslie is in doing tactics in place of Kostecki
