I have recently converted my 14 to have aft main sheeting (49er style) and twin tillers. Is there a guide to setting the correct strop length for the right leech tension?

as high as possible so that you can sheet right into the middle but still have a bit more in order to pull the leach tight. In practice the means about 50mm minimum of separation betweent the blocks with the boom right in the middle

That sounds right.  The 4000 uses a centre strop but the boat goes best if the boom comes almost into the centre line.  Then the last heave on the mainsheet tightens the leach and really powers up the rig.  Quite a heave on the 4000 in a medium breeze.  Once the wind gets up a bit its not quite so heavy since the kicker is used to control the leach tension and the main is not pulled into the centre line.
