What a shame these two high profile events clash.

I expect the champions of the classes involved with the Tide Ride face a tough choice ...

Does the RYA have a role to assist in the scheduling of key events in the UK?

The 49er Gold Series in WPNSA is also on October 8/9 and will feature some of the best sailors in the World, at a top venue with Prize Money...

I am sure all the national champions of the boats at the tide ride. will be at the tide ride. best racing of the year. why would they rather sail a xenon over there 800, b14, i14 and 700etc.

Perhaps this is a deliberate mistake and the plan is to do the Tide Ride in a Xenon?? The Red Bull Current Crawl perhaps??

surely the organisers of such high stature events would have thought to check whether or not they would clash with any other such events...

We'll if you sail a skiff with a start at the Tide Ride you'll be at the Tide Ride; big shame though as the other event has a huge tradition ...

Fireball-not sure.  DJ and Dan won the Nationals and Euros combined, and Chips and Vyvo won the worlds.  Dunno why two entries though...

Entry is limited to 30 boats, so I think that might be the list of invited rather than who has accepted?  Doesn't explain the double Fireball of course.

The date clashes with the qualification for the ISAF Worlds for some classes. So I cannot see them attending, also I believe some may choose to do the tide ride instead...

That's 43 boats!  They have 30 boats available so not all of those can go. Chips isn't the Fireball National champ, so he shouldn't be on the list. They're quite strict about that normally.

How many teams do you think they will get? Turn out was pretty low last year...

They'll get 30 teams, no problem. A lot of people seem quite positive about the new format - supplied boats etc.  Where did that entry list come from??

I think the new format of the evennt is great; good to see them trying to revive a once classic event. Shame they didn't consider the scheduling of the event in the context of other events.
