Forecast is looking like a more reasonable 12-15 knots now so should be much better! Hoping it'll be a bit warmer this week as I think my feet have only just thawed out since last week!!

I decided not to team race this year but seem to have been convinced into standing in for one of our guys who cant make it. Fireflies, aberdeen, and snow forcast. WHY!!

iv never sailed in snow before. does it slow the wind even more than rain does?

i have sailed once in fog and that was rather strange. you lost all sense of direction, epecially as the wind kept shifting about all over the place.

i can imagine hail would be rather painful to sail in, especially if you are going upwind at about 12/14 knots straight into it

what strange weather conditions have people sailed in then?

RS 400 National Champs at North Berwick in 2004. THICK fog, big breeze and pouring rain for the first 2 days. It was what can only be described as dreich!

The 2005 Nationals in Abersoch on the first day we had swell in one direction and chop in the other that was nuts!

Im quite looking fwd to scraping the snow off the boats and breaking the ice out the bottom. Its been a while!

Oh and P.S. Dont diss the fly ben they're great fun!

That's OK by me; Hull up downhill and up on the wire.

(and toi answer another question, Hail hurts like hell going upwind at 15kts !

It's not much fun going back down when the apparent is well forward with the kite up either !

Sailing in hail isn't too bad, but I was attacked in a very personal place once by hail - the storm appeared out of nowhere just as I was taking a wee off the back of the transom...
