What about lightweight men and the female 50% of the population who
presently have to choose something impossibly difficult to sail like a
Moth or Canoe if they want to go faster than a Radial?

hull, 800 rig (no jib and fractional kite) and B14 size wings?

Doesn't this keep coming up Blaze with Spinnaker?

RS300? Vareo?
The thing is, because length is nearly everything in round the track speed, and the Radial is an undercanvassed larger sailors boat, laws of physics suggest that you won't easily get a nice to sail lightweights singlehander that's faster than the Radial unless you up the ante significantly in difficulty.

Internationally the only thing I can think of in addition is the Farr 3.7, which ought to be a delightful boat, but isn't a whole heap faster than the Radial even with less weight and a string because it's much shorter.

Anyway Canoes and Moths aren't impossibly difficult to sail, merely very difficult [grin].

The problem will be to achieve a sufficient sail area/wetted area ratio with only a low righting moment and without making the waterline beam really narrow and the boat impossibly tippy.

Answer? Scow! (ideally with a flat planing transom and tunnel bow) - I'm going to keep plugging that one!

ummmm the rs 100 now let me think a little on this one

70 to 80 kg crew weight

8 to 10 sq main

10 or 12 sq kite

looks like a vareo front with the 300 backend

now that would be perfect for everyone or would it

what do think then guys and gals

It should, but for some odd reason when RS launched it they tried to position it in their "All Purpose Boats" section, rather than the "Performance Dinghies" section. Thus it got a name, not a number.

NONONONONO that would be a horrible compromise and would not work very well in any one particular mode. NO you can't have a boat that does everything, windsurfers have mostly 2 or 3 boards, so we should have 2 or 3 boats if we want to do 2 or 3 things. Dont try and jumble them all together and ruin it.

600 732, will call it Sticks and Stones when i get round to it.
