picos are not a good boat to learn in you are supposed to teach people to tack standing up but its damn near impossible in a pico.

they are good fun in a blow (F6-7) as they are idiot proof and hence offer safe, predictable fun and feel fast even if theay are actually going pretty slowly.

well i think they are idiot proof really,  and very wide- perfect to learn in as the garish yellow hulls can match the crash helmets you see the learners wearing -  and cmon people weve all been there .  but they are a good single hander to start in because you also have the option of a job which means the new sailors can get some experience in that type of sail

In my opininon Laser have only ever made one really succesful boat
(the laser) and topper have only made one really succesful boat (the
topper) the rest are just none starters, with very few exceptions. I
personally think the Feva is the best learning boat.

YAY FEVA! i sail one and i hav to say about it that its a really slow boat in no wind - is really unbreakable unless a laser goes straight into it... but in wind it goes fast and it has a spinny... its a great learning boat.
Sailors don't get old!!! They get a little dinghy (or skiff, or yacht...)
