can we get really scientific and hear GRFs theories on dark energy please. I just dont understand what the scientists are talking about or the journo`s for that matter.
For example could it replace wind as a means of propelling a board? Edited by rogerd - 04 Apr 13 at 3:56pm |

Oh yes, do let's talk about boundary layer separation. I bet the whole physics of that have changed since I spent three years studying fluid dynamics at uni, and you are just the man to update me.

That just sums it up, give them 22 pages of pure fact none of which they understand and they still complain, the one thing that resembles anything they actually think they know because it was what they were taught in junior laser space cadet academy and they complain even more.
It gets back to what I said in my very first post y'all are beyond help because basically you're sailing inbreds that can't think sideways like normal folk..
And we haven't even touched on boundary layer separation. |

we are onto the 22nd page of nonsense here, just as was intended from the start. If you want a thread with real science, I'd suggest either starting a new one, which I'd read avidly, or, for a better chance of it staying that way, start a new one on a totally different forum - there must be ones which don't go off a a tangent somewhere... bet they don't have many members, though...

Not, I fear, on internet fora... 20 pages of debate usually add up to 9 pages of thread hijacking, 5 pages of arguing at complete cross purposes due to disagreements about the meaning of fundamental terms, 3 pages of telling people to look it up on google, 2 pages of quotes from badly sourced and quite unreliable wikipedia articles and 1 page of deliberate lies for trolling purposes... |

This thread is awesome. If it takes 20 pages of debate to try and disprove a simple mathematical argument it should be pretty obvious that the simple maths is probably right. :P
Here's a thought, rather than saying "it's wrong, because I've got this other model of how it works which is 20 pages of confusing prose", why not outline a mathematical proof of why doing basic vector maths to work out the effect of the tide on the wind and therefore speed in a given direction is wrong. Draw a picture, put vectors on it, show that it creates a false or inconsistent state. If you can't, the basic vector maths must be true. That's how science works. |

My forefathers graduated from breaking rocks to stealing golden rocks that other people had broken, so we knew how to get by without working too hard. Getting shot by the District Commissioner like great-uncle Mickey did at Rockley was an occupational hazard, but every job has its downsides.
