I bought some new gloves especially Seabadger, they were super warm but the lack of proper grip cost me a fair few dunkings and swims! They are some neoprene things with latex palms by Gill and are probably the worse £25 i have ever spent!
The D-ones struggled a bit, i was re overtaking one when its mast snapped. They point really well but in the gusty conditions yesterday it seemed that when they dunked a wing they capsized. The angles the guys were sailing down wind seemed allot higher then some of the other Assy's. The looks side of things has really grown on me, actually seeing them sailing. Speed wise I'm not sure, but i think the boat more then most others rewards sailing time. |

that 5o5 was flying round the course. we started 2 minutes late (gotta have
breakfast first eh....priorities) and he overtook us down the first reach, which wasn't long into the race. we kept up with him for a long time, but he destroyed us down the long reach at the back of the lake. 400's dont like reaches! Merlinboy were you the 300 that completely cut through the exclusion zone down the first run? i was so tempted to follow! |

Just curious - did they allow juniors to sail? Pretty brave PRO if he did.

Our respective sailing Widows got a few shots of boats
other than our own. Feel free to email if you want the full resolution versions. What a cold race though, we have never sailed the RS400 together and haven't sailed together full-stop for something like 18 years so it was always going to be a challenging day! Many thanks to the shore based folk and rescue crews at QM for sticking out all day. Having the main halyard thaw out and detach from the head of the sail less than 10 mins before our start and fixing it on the water was particularly cold. Made it to the start with minutes to spare. All images in photobucket can be clicked on and then zoomed using the button top left to get a reasonable sized image. photos Edited by simonrh |

You should have sailed the Vortex then Simon! Well done for even turning up though - frankly it looked horrible. |

It was cold enough in RS400, I think the vortex would have been a bit too much. Tried it at Grafham Xmas pursuit and none of the deck cleats or spinlock were working and trpaezing on sheet ice was tricky.
Besides if you capsize a 2 man boat it can always be someone else's fault! Edited by simonrh |
