The 5.5 Metre Class Scandinavian Gold Cup at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo, suffered more delays on the third day of racing with a strong mistral building during the day and causing all racing to be abandoned.

The fleet did set out for a 10.00 start but didn't get very far and were turned around quite quickly with the start boat already recording 25 knots over the deck. So, the fleet waited ashore for further news, but by 11.45 the race committee abandoned racing for the day.

After the next race only Race 1 winner, New Moon III (BAH 25, Mark Holowesko, Christoph Burger, Peter Vlasov, Race 2 winner, The Jean Genie (GBR 43, Peter Morton, Andrew Palfrey, Ruairadh Scott) and the winner of Race 3, if different, will remain in the competition until one boat wins three races.

It will be an early start on Sunday as racing is set to resume at 09:30.
