The National Championships of the Comet, Zero, Trio and the Tidal Championships of the Duo were held at Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy on August 25th-27th. Race officer Dr Frank Newton set excellent courses in Portland Harbour.

The Duos Tidal Championship saw Jane and Robert Townsend in first place with Frank and Mary Smith second and Roy and Luke Smith third. The second race saw Colin and Sandra Wild at the front with the Townsends and Smiths behind.

The races on the Sunday saw Roy and Luke Smith secure two firsts and a third place, with the Wilds winning the last race of the day putting them on equal points with the Smiths.

Monday's races saw Roy and Luke Smith with two firsts comfortably winning the championship.

Everyone agreed the event was a great success with four small friendly classes, albeit related, successfully sharing a prestigious venue with professional organisation and challenging racing.

A big thanks to Weymouth & Portland Sailing Academy for a great event.
