With low water at 1930 and a forecast of the wind dying to 2 gusting 3 knots it didn't look good for the third race of the Hamble River Sailing Club Wednesday night A Series. But the committee boat set off in the sunshine with the AP ready. Having anchored optimistically, the breeze held and negotiation followed as to how much water the boats really needed and therefore which marks were available to use. Once agreement was reached, the simple courses were confirmed (a reach, a beat a run and a fetch) and the 26 boats were off.
In class 1 La Nef won under HRSC rating, but Light pipped them by just 1 second under the NHC scheme. Class 3 was won by old-timer Fritha under HRSC rating, but she was pipped by Isabel - a new boat to the club this year - under NHC. In class 2 M'ENFIN?! won again under NHC, but her rating is moving rapidly upwards, and the win under HRSC rating went to Imptish. It's all much more simple in the X-boat one-design class with Mischief being first home.
