Sailors take advantage of strong winds
With winds gusting at over 30 knots last Sunday, Race 6 of the LTSC perisher Series was unfortunately abandoned. However, not to be put off, a number of boats took to the water to take advantage of the conditions which were perfect for some strong wind practice. A support boat was in attendance to stand by whilst the crews righted their boats when they capsized.
The talents of the sailors became clear as they brought their boats onto the plane in seas that would put many off. Of those who participated visiting sailors Tim Harridge & Lucy Burn put their Merlin Rocket through its paces, in preparation for the Merlin Silver Tiller open meeting at LTSC on 14th & 15th May, whilst Pete Barton demonstrate how to get the most out of an RS Aero is strong winds, ready for the RS Southern Championships on 18th & 19th June.
Juniors sailors Evie Snedker (RS Feva) and Vita Hethcote & Millie Boyle (420) were also out there and will be ones to watch when the Lymington Dinghy Regatta returns on 30th & 31st July.
Racing continues at LTSC this Sunday with race 7 of the Perisher Series. For details of all the events mentioned please contact the Sailing Secretary on 01590 674514 or e-mail .
