Parkstone Yacht Club Flying Fifteen Autumn Series - Finale
by Bob Alexander 20 Dec 2015 15:46 GMT
After weeks of racing lost to what seemed like a never ending succession of gales it was nice to finally get a day when racing could take place.
12 boats lined up for race 1 in lively conditions. Race Officer Iain Lamey set a figure of eight course sending the fleet upwind towards the Harbour entrance before an exciting spinnaker leg back to the club. The winners of this last race of the Autumn Series (The Last Blast Trophy, donated by Dave Tabb,) were Pete and Jo Allam. Second place went to Bob Alexander and Huw Willetts and third went to Graham and Ben Scroggie.
Race 2 (the second and final race of the mini series) saw similar conditions to today's race 1.
This time a windward/leeward course was set, meaning a spinnaker gybe was going to be required on the downwind leg (that was going to be a challenge in the lively conditions).
Dave Tabb and Chewey Sherrell lead from the start to the finish, but were pushed hard by Bob Alexander and Huw Willetts who ended second. Third was Patrick Keats and Jon Gorringe.
