The third racing day of the India International Regatta 2015 started with very mild conditions and turned really tricky in the end, especially for the Optimists. The sea was flat and the breeze from the north east never went above 5 to 7 knots. But towards the afternoon the current was so strong the boats struggled to go up against it. However three races were held for each of the classes as per schedule. This meant a log arduous day, especially for the little Optimists!

Among the 29ers the Danes held absolute control and won all three races and consolidated their lead. However Naveen Kumanan and Aniketh Rajaram of the TNSA seem to have found the form that eluded them on day 2 to move back within a breath of the medals. There were no surprises in the Windsurfer fleet with Dayne Coelho winning all the races once again.

The laser Radial sees the battle between Ireland's Johnny Durcan and India's Vishnu Saravanan for the top spot continue to play out while in the Laser 4.7 Mohammad Abdulkareem from the UAE is far far ahead of the competition.

The low wind conditions made things particularly difficult for the junior class of boat, the Optimist. They finished the first race of the day with comparative ease, but in the second race the current became very strong and most of the fleet went to the right side of the course and got swept down with the current. Just a few boats which went to the left side managed to finish that race. In the third race their course was shortened to suit the conditions but many still did not make the start line. Saif of the UAE has managed to hold on to his lead but Navyn Prabhakar of the TNSA had a cracker of a day to edge Chitrest Thatha to third spot! Tomorrow is likely to bring in some changes in the leaderboard with the discard coming into play.
