Low winds for large fleet
Hosting the final leg of the Midland Grand Prix Circuit ensured a healthy turnout of travellers despite low wind forecasts.
On a beautiful but windless start to the day, competitors sat out a postponement stretching beyond lunch.
Racing commenced early afternoon with a shortened programme of two races as a low but shifty breeze developed. In a field of 38 lasers, bunching at the windward mark proved difficult and generated a fair few tasty challenges to 'rights of way'.
The overall winner, with individual race placings of 1st and 6th, was Staunton Harold's very own Paul Williamson. Competitors were thanked for their patience and the race officers for setting fair and worthy races in difficult conditions.
