Island Sailing Club Evening Series - Race 11

by Rod Nicholls 1 Jul 2015 17:13 BST 30 June 2015

60 boats came to the line for the eleventh race in the series. With a flood tide and a 10 knot south easterly breeze all the fleets set off to the east with a beat to round the Royal London buoy.

It was then a run back up to the west to set everybody up for a second beat. Class 1 & 2 went to Sunsail and the rest of the fleet to West Ryde Middle. The breeze started to drop at this point so as the boats came to the line the courses were shortened.

It may have been a short race for some but a good evening's racing before the rain came in.

Fresh from winning the Gold Roman Bowl for 1st Overall IRC (and other trophies) in the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race, Giovanni Belgrano in Whooper dropped to 3rd place in the Evening Race Series Class 1, but held 1st place in the IRC Class.

A great result and congratulations to him and his crew.

The series is supported by Wight Vodka and Hempel Paints.
