Flying Fifteens at Rutland Sailing Club

Rutland Sailing Club hosted there first Flying 15 open for 7 years, 5 visitors joined 7 Rutland boats last weekend 20/21st June to battle it out for the Peter Maddocks Trophy.

Saturday dawned with 6 knots of breeze, Race officer Martyn Emberson set the fleet going. In Race 1 and 2,Dave McKee and Andy Weatherspoon 4005 take the bullets.

As the afternoon went on the 6 knots died.

In race 3 Chris and Marion Bowen 4013 crossed the course early to pick up the breeze on the far shore, 1st round the windward mark they kept there lead with no real challengers.

The 4th race got under way Sunday in a 15 knot breeze, where McKee/Weatherspoon took the bullet.

In race 5 John Hanlon/Helen Seldon 3954 battled through to take 1st and in the 6th it was back to McKee and Weatherspoon.

Great to see 15s back in a fleet at Rutland Sailing Club.
