Island Sailing Club Evening Racing Series - Day 4
by Richard Palmer, Principal Race Officer 13 May 2015 11:44 BST
12 May 2015
A sparkling spring evening and a solid 24 - 25 knot breeze greeted the racers in the Evening Race Series race 4, who were keen to get out following no racing (due to high winds) in the previous week.
The ISC Sonars were denied the excitement of spinnakers and were sent with their cut down mainsails, and other boats were seen to be revelling in the strong breeze.
Boats were sent on a downwind start away from the main fairway and Rampant was seen to wrap her yellow spinnaker around her forestay at the start but still managed 5th in her class.
A gentleman suffered a bump to the head on one boat and was swiftly brought ashore and met by an ambulance on Trinity Pontoon. Happily he was able to walk to the ambulance and was taken to St Mary's Hospital for checks.
All but 2 boats had finished racing by sunset, and those 2 were seen to be clearly displaying their navigation lights.
Daily prizes were presented in the bar at 2115.
