The final two races of the Royal Lymington Yacht Club Portmore Spring Series Keelboat racing took place on Sunday 26 April in light to medium shifty North Easterly winds. Simon van der Byl set demanding cross tide courses including reaching legs which suited the boats with asymmetric spinnakers. The series was completed over 7 races and the IRC class was won by the William Newton's J105, Jelly Baby, closely followed by the consistent performing Ephesian, a Sigma 33, proving how well IRC covers a wide range of boats in varying conditions.
Ray Mitchell's Conspiracy, a Contessa 32, won the Lymington Adjusted Handicap fleet with Google Eye, a Trapper 300, a close second. This is the first time this performance handicapping system has been used in the Spring Series and it proved a great success with yacht handicaps changing every race.
The Folkboats class was won by Chris Hills in Padfoot with a near perfect score. However, this was eclipsed in the RS Elite fleet, where Martin Wadhams in Kiss achieved 6 bullets and discarded a second.
