The 2015 CWM FX London Boat Show (9-18 January 2015) is bringing together the latest in innovation and technology on one of its key attractions, The Datatag Lab.
Throughout the 10 days it will showcase some recognisable names with their own designated display area. Raymarine and Landau UK will be demonstrating best sellers as well as some unique multi-sensory gadgets, such as the Raymarine Navigation Simulator and the Landau dance floor.
Following the unveiling of the revolutionary Solent Whisper at the 2014 PSP Southampton Boat Show, Southampton Solent University will be taking the next step at the CWM FX London Boat Show. For the first three Show days visitors will witness the build of the first ever production model.
Giles Barkley, Programme Leader of Yacht Engineering at Southampton Solent University explains: "Southampton Solent University is delighted to be partnering with White Formula Ltd. to build the first ever production model of the Solent Whisper hydrofoil catamaran live in The Datatag Lab. It will host the entire build of the new boat including the vacuum infusion, as well as showcasing the latest computer design software and current work of the university's yacht engineering students. Staff from the University will be on hand to answer questions about the yacht engineering and design courses, and the latest technologies being used to build the boat."
A life size model of the 1,000mph BLOODHOUND SuperSonic Car, which aims to set a new World Land Speed Record, will be on display. The Met Office will also be at the Show, sharing the facts behind its position as experts of marine weather.
Derrick Ryall, Head of the Met Office Public Weather Service explains: "More than 150 years ago, the Met Office was set up to protect lives at sea and that has been at the heart of what we do ever since. From the earliest warnings based on observations by eye alone, to the cutting edge satellite and computer technology that makes today's sophisticated forecasts possible, we've always been at the forefront of weather forecasting. Visitors to the CWM FX London Boat Show can come along to learn about the amazing developments in forecasting over our long history and find out what innovations we're working on for the future to continue to push the boundaries of what's possible."
At the heart of The Datatag Lab will be its theatre. A range of experts and explorers will be taking to the stage to immerse visitors with science, life stories and future ventures/inspiration. This includes speakers from Bob Shepton and Jack Mayhew to Rannoch Adventure and Ben Ainslie Racing's designers. But the speaker sure to fascinate the crowds will be Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, best known as the first man to sail single handed and non-stop around the world. Sir Robin will be at the Show in his capacity as the Chairman and co-founder of the Clipper Ventures.
