Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation and SAP partner for Bart's Bash

by Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation 20 Sep 2014 22:57 BST 21 September 2014

The Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation is delighted to announce a partnership with SAP, the world leader in enterprise software. SAP has been helping the Bart's Bash organisers simplify the way race data captured from around the globe, for what is set to be the Largest Sailing Race in the world.

SAP has also supported the event by sending out over 600 race packs to Bart's Bash event makers around the world containing essential tools for each race management team.

"It is a great pleasure to partner with the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation in supporting Bart's Bash", said Stefan Lacher, Head of Sponsorships Technology at SAP. "As a global company with a passionate involvement in the sport of Sailing, we are very proud that our support is helping simplify the operations involved in organizing the largest sailing regatta in the world in its inaugural year. We are amazed by the amount of global support this event has received and look forward to seeing the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation continue to progress at the rate it has in the past year raising money for many worthy causes."

Bart's Bash, the Guinness World Record attempt for the Largest Sailing Race and fundraising event for the Foundation, will be celebrated this Sunday, 21st September, with racing taking place in over 700 venues in more than 60 countries. So far over 14,000 sailors have signed up online at bartsbash.co.uk.

"We are very excited to work with SAP in the inaugural edition of Bart's Bash," said Event Manager Tim Anderton. "The event has received massive global support and we are delighted to partner with SAP, whose unparalleled experience in enterprise software will help us deliver the Largest Sailing Race in the World."

The aim of Bart's Bash is to remember Andrew 'Bart' Simpson, to inspire a new generation of sailors, to encourage clubs to open their doors and to fundraise for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation. All the funds raised through Bart's Bash will support the development and delivery of the Foundation's charitable programmes nationally and internationally. These programmes have Bart's and the Olympic values at their heart, and are currently being developed and tested at the Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre. Pilot programmes, designed to enhance sailing activities and participation, as well as to reach more young people, are also being tested in Bermuda and South Africa.
