Bart's Bash LIVE - be part of our TV coverage!

by The Bart's Bash team 14 Sep 2014 21:48 BST 21 September 2014

To celebrate the global scale of Bart's Bash, and to give every club and individual the opportunity to be showcased and celebrated during the day, we are delighted to announce a LIVE global broadcast that everyone is invited to contribute to! To be honest, we need you to contribute because it's only with your support that we will be able to share the massive scale of this incredible race!

Do YOU want to appear in our global coverage alongside Jimmy Spithill, Sir Ben Ainslie, Iain Percy and other global stars of sailing? Do you want to showcase YOUR CLUB and promote the place you know and love so well? Do you want to share YOUR FRIENDS or your FUNDRAISING activities? Do you want to leave a MESSAGE to BART and all other sailors around the world? You can have it all!! And it's EASY!

On the hour, every hour, starting at 9am GMT and continuing through until the evening, we will be broadcasting a LIVE update including film from around the world and YOUR FOOTAGE! In between the live broadcasts we will be running highlights, recorded films and a Twitter Wall where your #bartsbash tweets will be displayed, including photos. We intend to share footage from the ISAF World Championships, the TP52 regatta in Ibiza, the Clipper Race in the Solent, live tracking of Sir Ben Ainslie's race at the QMSC, film from the America's Cup teams and the global sailing stars – all as a supporting partner to the footage YOU shoot and share with us!

You will have a chance to look behind the scenes at the Control Centre of Bart's Bash and meet some of the key people who have been organising this event including Tony, Jez and Tim - who is a real person and not just an email address!! We encourage you to tune in to the bartsbash.co.uk website at your club, watch us at home before you go racing and keep up to date with developments as the day goes on – share your footage and your friends and family around the world will be able to celebrate with you! Could this be one of the biggest participation online broadcasts in the world?

Here's what you do:

  1. Film your selfie, your friends or your club activity – an iPhone is fine, you can use whatever you wish to film the footage.

  2. Make sure you mention where you are, and who you are. The more interesting and engaging it is, the more it is likely to be used!

  3. Upload it to YouTube

  4. Use the tag 'bartsbash' when you upload it, if you can!

  5. Email the link to your uploaded footage to

  6. Make another film of something different but equally interesting and repeat!

When do I do it?

Start now! Are you going to your club tomorrow? Then film your message and send it in - tomorrow is also a great chance to practice measuring your course. Why not take a selfie or a video doing this that you could upload - it would help us to get the vital message out about how important measuring the course is. For the really creative people, you have a few days to edit together a more complete film and send it in later in the week. We want anything you can provide – it's important to share every corner of the world! Wouldn't it be great to share your part in Bart's Bash LIVE with all of your club's members?

On the day, don't wait until the end of your event. Film and upload in the morning, before your race, during another race and after your race. Get the excitement and activities on camera and send them in! Always remember to say who you are and where you are, though, so we can give you proper credit. This is the only way we will be able to share the global scale of this great race. Try it now and we may share some early films on our Facebook during this week...!

What you need to do now

Share this news with all of your friends!! You can download an overview to the filming guidelines here.

Help us to celebrate this global event and allow everyone to share the experience around the world. You're all participating, so let's start shouting about it and joining together through Bart's Bash LIVE! Start making films now!

#sailonbart

Thank you from Jez, Tony, Tim and the whole Bart's Bash team.
