In magnificent sunshine and fair breezes, both the Saturday and Sunday Autumn Series kicked of this weekend. The Series which will run until the end of October involves 12 races in the Saturday Series and 18 races in the Sunday Series, run over six weekends.

In past years, this Series tends to be favoured more by the most competitive racers as the light breezes of the summer make way for stronger autumnal winds.

Saturday's racing, which saw around 20 boats take part, was largely dominated by the Lasers and Lawrence Creaser in particular who won both of the first two races. As result Creaser now leads the Series. Laser sailors Jason Robbins and Ian Clark battled it out to gain a second and third place each.

On the Sunday, the Club saw almost 30 boats take part in the first day of this Series. Keith Lancaster demonstrated that you don't necessary need a giant sit-on sailboard to triumph by winning the first race of the day, ahead of Laser sailors Mike Harding and Martin Hudson.

After lunch, Lancaster was again victorious in the second race, beating Simon Cray and Ian Clark in their Lasers.

However in final contest of the day, Hudson pushed ahead of Lancaster to take the race. Clark, who had sailed well all weekend, finished third.

At the end of the first day in the Sunday Autumn Series, Lancaster currently leads overall ahead of Hudson and Clark.

The Autumn Series continues next weekend, although turnout in Saturday's racing may be affected by some members taking part in the Annual Rutland Cruise.
