Dalgety Bay Sailing Club was the host for the prestigious RYA Scotland Champion of Champions event this weekend (16th – 17th October 2010).
Regattas for each class of boat have taken place involving fierce competition amongst hundreds of hopeful sailors throughout the year at venues across the country. This event was the culmination with each class’ Scottish Champion coming head to head aiming to claim the ultimate sailing title.
An impressive 49 competitors descended on the River Forth for the event. Sailors travelled from as far afield as Findhorn in the North and Stranraer in the South West on the special invitation of RYA Scotland for winners of Scottish Championship events in 2010. Classes of boat included the ultra modern Musto Skiff to classic designs such as Toppers and Mirrors.
Competitors battled through a day of light airs on Saturday, but a good breeze blew through on Sunday providing a good day’s racing. Ronnie and Tor Millar were the triumphant winning duo on handicap at the end of six races in their RS200 taking the trophy for their home Club.
