With the promise light winds only four visitors made the trip down into the Severn Valley to race in the fickle winds Trimpley has a reputation for.
Joined by seven club entries, a fleet of 11 enjoyed the warm sunshine with a gentle breeze rising and falling throughout the day.
Although the sailing was 'interesting' as the most seasoned visitor, Solly put it, the experts from the other clubs were chased by the home sailors but their skills didn't let them down and they took 2nd 3rd and 4th behind Trimpley sailor Carl Jeffs with Jim Toothill who won the event overall.
Carl was trialing a new trial mainsail by Speed Sails in Mylar and commented after the race that the sail does not offer any advantage over a standard main except that, if adopted by the association, will keep its shape and outlast the conventional sail.
Overall Results:
1st Carl Jeffs and Jim Toothill (Trimpley SC)
2nd John (Solly) Salomonson and Sabina Lawrie (South Staffs SC)
3rd Terry Edwards and Darren Heath (South Staffs SC)
4th Steve Ward and Leigh Wilson (Bartley SC)
