Miracle ‘Puddleduck at Girton Sailing Club

With sun and light winds prevailing, 19 boats started the first race. Phil/Helen Bailey achieved a good start, leading throughout the race and pulling out a commanding lead to finish first over Peter Cuthbert/Steve Hope in second and Tracy Amos/Keith Macey in third.

The second race brough more light winds. David/Michelle Raines were first to the mark followed by Peter and Tracy. David retained his lead with Phil moving into second place, the first four boats pulling away from the rest of the fleet. Following a close contest Phil gained first, Peter second, David in third.

Good food and a balmy summer evening completed the day.

Sunday saw heavy rain and light winds, 20 boats started the third race with a battle developing between Phil, Brian Jones/John Green in the new FRP Mark 4, David, and Wayne Atherton/Steve Wroe. Phil won with Brian second, David third.

More light air for the fourth race. Brian was first to the mark followed by Tracy , Wayne and Phil. Phil won with Tracy second, Wayne third.

In similar conditions the fifth race saw constant place changes between David, Ashley Southwell/Mark Atherton, Peter, Wayne and Phil , resulting in Phil first, David second and Wayne in third place.
