Rooster 8.1's dominate at the Weston Grand Slam
A windy weekend at the Weston Grand Slam, at least it was for the two underwight Rooster 8.1 sailors who were weighing in at 79kg. Steve Cockerill was reported to be quite exhausted sailing the Rooster 8.1 in 3 – 8 knts. “Every day is a windy day with the 8.1”. He also stated that the Europe was really well sailed during the weekend by Ian Stow of Weston Sailing Club, and was surprised to beat him in the last two races so that he could regain the lead from fellow 8.1 Sailor and Rooster Sailing’s new sail maker, Ian Morgan, who eventually finished in an unlucky 3rd overall.
The Rooster 8.1s looked dramatic, sailing as the fastest boat in the slow handicap fleet at the Grand Slam event, and found themselves catching up with the fast handicap fleet in the prevailing light wind conditions. The Rooster 8.1 Rigs are out for dispatch this week from Rooster Sailing so you could be experiencing a windy day too – no matter the conditions!
