Optimise your Optimist skills ahead of the major championships!

The latest dates for the Steve Irish Coaching Optimist Programme at Draycote Water SC have been confirmed, with a schedule designed to help sailors to optimise their build-up for the major championships in 2018.

There are also some initial dates for the winter training programme, which will run approximately one weekend a month from October to March, covering all the key skills required for successful Optimist sailing.

Draycote Water SC club manager Dave Rowe said: "After a successful first year of developing the Optimist training programme we're so pleased to be going into 2018 with a comprehensive and quality training schedule.

"It's been great to see the improvement in our Midlands sailors and the ones from further afield and the fun they're having while attending these sessions at Draycote."

There are a limited number of places so please book early. If a camp is showing as full, email Steve Irish at steveirish@aol.com, as more places may be made available.

Single days or complete camps can be booked; £25 per day for members and £40 per day for non members. For those taking part in the majority of the programme it is more cost effective to join Draycote Water as a junior member.

The training dates ahead of this season's key championships and ranking events are:

  • April 28-29, May 12-13, pre-Selections & Inlands
  • June 23-24, July 8, July 22-23-24, and July 28,29,30, pre-Nationals
  • September 22-23 and September 29-30, pre-End of Seasons championship
