Out there it's all about moving faster. It's all about speed. Speed needs teamwork and smart engineering. It takes lots of human energy. At the Volvo Ocean Race, the sailors are pushed to their limits. No race is more demanding for a boat than the Volvo Ocean Race. The keys to success: an environment in which every crew member is able to reach his full potential, perfect engineering, the most valuable food and the best care of the equipment.

For everyone that doesn't know the Volvo Ocean Race yet or for those who just want to know more Team Brunel developed a mini web serie called: engineering.

This online only serie consists of four episodes: team; speed; nutrition and maintenance. In these video's it's all about moving faster.

Engineering a Team

Performing as a team isn't just something that happens. It needs to be constructed like a Swiss clockwork.

Engineering Speed

Winning in the Volvo Ocean Race means being faster than your opponents. But how do you get the tiniest bit of speed difference when the boats are identical?

Engineering Nutrition

You don't just eat when you're doing a Volvo Ocean Race. You need jet fuel that's light weight and easy to prepare.

Engineering Maintenance

Keeping the boat in one piece in the Volvo Ocean Race is an art. See here what's needed to engineer maintenance

Volvo Ocean Race

The Volvo Ocean Race is the toughest sailing race in the world. Over 9 months and 45.000 nautical miles, boats from 7 teams will visit every continent on earth as they race to circumnavigate the globe. In two minutes, we will take you through this adventure from an engineering perspective.
