The Italian leg of the Europa Cup Laser, event reserved to the Laser Standard (single male Olympic), Radial (single female Olympic) and Laser 4.7 classes, came to an end yesterday, after having seen on the starting line 262 competitors from 20 Countries.

The conclusion of the event was unusual and in a minor tone because of an IT problem in the Race Office which prevented the final ranking of the event from being processed and, consequently, the proper awarding ceremony from being carried on.

"In a public communication addressed to all sailors, coaches and spectators, we tried to explain in a clear and transparent way the reason for what happened - declared Donatella Montanari, President of SEF Stamura - We are very disappointed with the delay and we feel responsible of the inconvenience related to the publication of the rankings. Unfortunately, since the beginning of the event we have had problems with the technology and we have discovered that the software with which we draw the rankings had been damaged by a virus that has compromised its functioning. The final rankings have been finalized today and published in our website www.sefstamura.it. It will be our pleasure to contact the individual winners one by one to deliver their prizes to their places of residence".

For what concerns the final results of the four-days of racing, in the Standard division Polish entry Wojciech Klimaszewski (9-3-bfd-6-4-3 his partials) wins the gold medal, preceding the Indian Vishnu Saravanan and the Swedish Emil Bengtson, winner of the last 3 races.

Just one step out of the podium we find Edoardo Libri: the athlete from SEF Stamura closes fourth overall and first among the Italians (3-9-bfd-3-11-12).

Among the Radial, the Italian Matteo Paulon (12-9-2-1-5-26) wins, ahead of the French Adam Caillaud and Andrea Crisi.

In the 4.7 division, victory of Niccolò Nordera (bfd-1-1-1) with Maria Giulia Cicchinè (3-3-9-1), best in the girls category, and the Swiss Antonis Asontis, respectively on the second and third step of the podium.
