A pink sky welcomed all sailors in and around Picton this morning for the Toyota NZ Optimist Nationals being sailed from the Queen Charlotte YC.
There was a promise of wind on the way and the D flag was raised in time and Open fleet headed out in a rush.
Course was put in the same as the last two days. Races got underway with approximately 8 knots. Four races were sailed in quick succession with Gold, Silver and bronze fleets.
Today saw Fletcher Walters from Australia sail himself to first place. Followed closely by Joshua Hyde and George Lee Rush from Wakatere, Auckland.
But tomorrow is another day with two races and every opportunity for rearrangement in the placings.
The Green and Rainbow fleet had a scavenger hunt and an adventure sail on the schedule today and were rewarded with drinks and Easter eggs.
Again an awesome day on the water in the Marlborough Sounds hosted by the Queen Charlotte Yacht Club.
