Early-bird entry deadline looming for Wave Regatta on June Bank-Holiday weekend

Just two weeks remain before the early-bird entry deadline expires for the inaugural Wave Regatta at Howth Yacht Club over the June Bank-holiday weekend. Skippers and crew can avail of significant discounts by entering before the end of March.

Wave Regatta is a new event that offers competitors the option of three days of racing including the Lambay Race or just the classic event as a standalone day. All competitors are promised an unforgettable shoreside entertainment programme courtesy of the Michael JF Wright Hospitality Group.

After the end of March early-bird deadline passes, a fortnightly draw will continue for all entries for a 100% refund of their entry.

Online entry is available from www.WaveRegatta.com where reservations for the on-site campervan accommodation village are also linked.

Organisers have also confirmed that bigger boats drawing up to 3.5 metres will also be accommodated at all states of tide for the duration and either side of the event.

Conor Phelan's Jump Juice from the Royal Cork YC was one of the first big boat entries received. "We'll be returning from the Scottish Series and Wave Regatta is timed perfectly for us to stop off for great racing at a great venue," he commented.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, a fleet of Beneteau 211's is expected while the Irish Sea Offshore Racing Association has included the Wave Regatta in its programme of events for the 2018 season.

"We have a great race management team lined-up with David Lovegrove and Jack Roy on board as Principal Race Officers," commented David Cullen, Director of Racing. "The waters are renown as a high-quality racing ground and with Michael Wright's hospitality programme ashore, this will be one regatta not to miss!"

The inaugural Wave Regatta aims to deliver a unique experience to all its visitors while also showcasing the best that Howth has to offer. A daily ferry service from Dun Laoghaire is available and the event will mark the fourth year of HYC's participation in the Sailors for the Sea international environmental initiative.
