Henri Lloyd Report of the Month: Club house progress and informative writing

The weather has definitely taken a colder turn in the UK as we approach Christmas, but the Henri Lloyd Report of the Month is hotter than ever, and we're delighted to announce the October and November winners of the Land Rover BAR caps.
Not all our reports are about the sailing, and our October winner Mark Fearnley illustrates that by highlighting the progress on the new club house at South Windermere Sailing Club. The new facilities will transform the sailing at their base in Fell Foot Park at the south end of Lake Windermere. Innovations such as the ground source heat pump will give luxuries such as underfloor heating in the changing rooms, which I'm sure everyone will appreciate – especially in the Winter! The new clubhouse should be open in time for the 2018 season which should help enormously to push forwards the youth and junior programme which the club already has a fine reputation for.
Our November winner is Mike Samuelson, a contributor from Bembridge Sailing Club who send us reports, photos and videos throughout the year from the local racing there, whilst also acting as Race Officer! He is one of the army of volunteers who are the life-blood of our sport. His report on the Illusion Inter Club Team Racing 2017 summed up the weekend nicely, attracted a high readership and was shared widely on Facebook. The publicity he gives to the Bembridge racing scene has resulted in higher attendances and awareness for several years.
Not only do our two authors win Land Rover BAR caps, all readers who nominate a winning article are also in with a chance of winning one. Congratulations to David Wilson who said about the South Windermere SC Club house article, 'Concise, informative and encourages new membership' and to Andrew Eddy who described the Illusion report as, 'Crisp and informative with lots of sailing drama'.
The festive period is the ideal time to make your reports fun. Get quotes from sailors, take photos of the smiling faces, even if it's just with your phone, and spread the word about this great sport of ours.
Also, please keep your votes coming in for reports. It's great to be able to recognise our contributors in this way and reports are, without doubt, more entertaining since we started the Henri Lloyd Report of the Month.
