Early contenders emerged after Monday's action at the 2017 Youth Sailing World Championships in Sanya, China after a full complement of racing in the nine events.
A variable 6-12 knot easterly breeze was present across the four racing areas, really testing the sailors in a challenging day. Some of the pre-event favourites came to the forefront and some early unexpected challengers came to the forefront, including Belgium's Nacra 15 team helmed by 14-year-old Lucas Claeyssens and crewed by Anne Vandenberghe.
Racing will kick off from 11:00 local time.
Weather Forecast
The cloud cover from Monday remains and is likely to stay for the remainder of the week. Therefore the chances of a sea breeze are slim. A 6-7 knot breeze with occasional gusts of 12 knots from the east is expected across the four racing areas.
