The RYA is turning the spotlight on 2016's most promising young sailors, windsurfers and powerboaters by opening nominations for the RYA Regional Youth Champion Awards.

RYA Chief Executive Sarah Treseder said: "2016 has been such an exciting year for the sport and we've seen some outstanding performances from youngsters across the UK. We're delighted to open the RYA Regional Youth Champion Awards which provide the perfect opportunity to recognise our most talented young sailors, windsurfers and powerboaters".
RYA Director of Sport Development Alistair Dickson said: "After a highly successful 2016, the RYA Regional Youth Champion Awards are a welcome opportunity to recognise the achievements of our top young sailors around the UK. They also highlight the hard work, sacrifice and determination which are often somewhat hidden and behind the scenes.
"The Awards also help to emphasize the endless support of our many volunteers who work so hard at the club level to give our sailors the best possibly start to their future sailing careers."
Winners must have shown success on the racecourse, whether at local, national or international level.
From the nominations received, each of the RYA's regional committees will select a regional winner. RYA Scotland conduct a separate awards process.
All award recipients and their families will be invited to the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show for the official awards ceremony. The RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show will be held at Alexandra Palace London on 04-05 March 2017.
Nominations will close on 23 January 2017.
