Saturday 12th November saw the conclusion of the 2016 Sunsail Racing Series, supported by Gill and Chilgrove Gin.

A smaller than normal turnout of 14 of the 21 invited finalists arrived on the Friday evening in readiness for up to four races on the Saturday.

With two previous winners of the Racing Series in attendance, some University teams and some new faces as well who dominated their rounds, the competition looked good for some close racing.

As it turned out, David Guerreiro took both races, the first by some five minutes to take the overall win.

Second in race one went to Ed Harrison (Durham Uni) closely followed by Phil White.

In race 2, second went to Rob Cotterill (London Business School) followed By Herman Fostevdt (Solent Uni).

A big thank you to the race officer, Jon Nabney, who had to tackle a challenging day due to too much wind in the morning and too little wind (and lack of visibility) in the afternoon, leading to just two of the four races being held.

So, congratulations then go to David Guerreiro and his team taking victory at the third attempt.

Second overall was Herman Fostvedt from Solent University on countback, followed by Phil White in third.

Also a big thank you to Durham and Edinburgh Universities for traveling so far for the final (and one crew member coming over from Munich for the day!)

Yet again, the 2016 season has been a real success for the Sunsail Match First 40's, and we can only wait for the 2017 season to start in late February.
