The selection was organised by Hong Kong Sailing Federation for nominating top sailors to participate in the World Sailing Youth Championships in New Zealand in December 2016 and the ASAF Youth Sailing Cup India in December 2016. Racing was held on 15th and 16th October 2016, took place at Sai Kung Port Shelter (Ngau Mei Hoi) waters at Hebe Haven Yacht Club.

It was a challenging start under a shifty wind condition with 0 to 11 knots. Races started when the wind condition was more steady and two races were completed on day one.

On the second day, Race Officer Bonnie Cheng was pleased to find that there was a decent 7 to 9 knots Easterly winds.

Under this steady wind condition, four races were held smoothly.

With several boats scoring OCS, final results showed youth sailor Nancy Highfield topped the Laser 4.7 class with 15 boats. In the Laser Radials class, Nicholas Bezy dominated the whole racing; with his total score 5 points in 5 races with 12 boats.

"Overall, competitors are aggressive, so we used U flag in the first sequence. Congratulations to all the winners and participants! I wish them all the best in sailing, especially those who will participant the coming overseas championships." Bonnie responded.

Finally we have to thank our title sponsor Laser Performance for their invaluable contribution to our event this year. Mr. Tony Kwan, Managing Director, Laser Performance was delighted to know that all participants had a great time in the regatta and he looked forward to seeing sailing getting more popular in Hong Kong.

Also, we have to give a big hand to our volunteers who have been working under this sizzling hot weather and the challenging wind condition.
