The Royal Southern Yacht Club is delighted to be hosting one of its Honorary Members, Great Britain's Paralympic Gold medallist sailor Helena Lucas MBE, during her Road to Rio training in the 2.4mR, the one-person keelboat in which she will be defending her title in Rio next month. Helena was the first member of the Great Britain team to be announced as selected to represent Team GB back in April.
In completing her latest training session, Helena commented: "I have enjoyed another great week of training from the Royal Southern. This time I was joined by the 2.4mR sailor Bjørnar Erikstad and his coach Jacob from Norway. They stayed at the Club and were very well looked after; the Club even hoisted the Norwegian flag in their honour! We will be back in a couple of weeks time for further training and to compete in a regatta."
In the final rankings before the Rio 2016 Paralympic Sailing competition, released early last month, Helena heads in to the summer showpiece as 2.4 Norlin OD #1, as well as the defending Paralympic champion.
