Optimist sailors will be competing for the title of Midland Area Champion at Draycote Water SC this Saturday, July 9th.
It will be one of the last major open meetings before the nationals at Largs – providing a great opportunity for sailors to tweak their starting and racing skills ahead of the main event in the class calendar.
Both main fleet and regatta sailors are welcome, with registration from 9.00, briefing at 10.00 and a first start no earlier than 10.30. The aim is to complete six races.
Organiser Anette Soyer says, "We've got lots of prizes and Draycote Water is very much looking forward to welcoming Optimist sailors of all ages and abilities from the across the Midlands and further afield – from those new to racing right up to those in RYA squads wanting to test themselves against some top competition!"
Draycote Water is a 650 acre reservoir set high in the rolling Warwickshire countryside, making for an ideal combination of both great sailing conditions and easy access from the M1, M6, M45 and M40 motorways.
Entry is just £15, payable on the day, and there will be a full galley available serving hot and cold food and refreshments. After the prize giving there will also be a BBQ to round up the day. Entry can be made online until midnight on Friday 8th July at www.kbsuk.com/optimist/iocamidlands/index.asp?EventID=17 or on the day.
