Blokart mini land yachts bring the action to the Race Village

There's under one month to go until the most spectacular show in sailing returns to Portsmouth. Over the weekend of 22-24 July, the event will deliver an incredible three days of fun filled, action packed and family friendly sporting action. There will be spectacular views of AC45 foiling catamarans racing, with these impressive boats reaching speeds in excess of 40 knots. This is also the last chance to support British team Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing on home waters before the 35th America's Cup in Bermuda 2017.
Thanks to the new-look 2016 ticket only Race Village, the action is not just on the water, the entertainment continues on land. BMW, Global Partner of America's Cup, is excited to be able to offer all Race Village ticketholders over the age of 8 the opportunity to try their hand at Blokart land sailing over the weekend!
Peter Newlands from Blokarts UK explains: "Blokarts are ideal for sailing around on dry land. The G-forces and speed sensations are incredible, yet even a novice can be safely up and away virtually instantly."
Other interactive Race Village content includes the BT 100% Sport TechZone where you get the chance to find out what makes an America's Cup boat fly and test yourself to see if you could take on America's Cup sailors. The Race Village also features big screens showing all the race action and an Après Sail event each day after racing when the sun goes down.
Taking place from 12pm each day, the Red Arrows, the Red Bull Matadors and The Blades aerobatic display team will be offering fantastic aerial entertainment each day. There will also be an exciting array of local food traders within the Race Village, with delicacies to satisfy all tastes. Whilst Goslings' Dark and Stormy Rum Bar will be on hand for the adults who want to celebrate in style.
Also on offer is a superb retail experience at the 'MarketPlace', packed full of marine-based exhibitors. Love Southsea, a Portsmouth-based organisation, will be bringing a selection of local traders, artists, makers, and produce stockists to the event.
Adult's Race Village tickets are priced from £25, 6-15 year olds are half price and under 5's go for free. Seats are also booking fast in the Premier Grandstand and dedicated fans can treat themselves to a ticket for the Sailors Lounge, with special guest speakers giving a real insight into all the action.

Last year saw a big flotilla fleet of spectators enjoying the racing from the water.
