On Sunday 19th June a brand new set of Firefly racing sails were handed over to 17 year old Alexander Baxter from West Oxfordshire S.C. Alexander won the sails in the Early Bird Nationals Entry Draw made at the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show.

Hyde Sails, the Firefly Class's long standing sailmaker, donated the prize as part of their sponsorship of the upcoming 70th Anniversary National Championships taking place at Tenby from the 6th to the 12th August.

Alexander will be competing at the Firefly Nationals for the fourth time and with the help of his new sails will be hoping to better his top twenty result from last year. They have also arrived just in time for the School Fleet Racing Championships at Itchenor in two weeks time were he will be competing with fellow school mates from Batholomew School, Eynsham, James Nicoll, Ben Nicoll and Joe Scarborough.

Hyde Sails generous sponsorship of the Nationals this year means that besides the sails won by Alexander the sailor with the most improved overall result compared to last year will win a new jib! This on top of the usual array of holdalls, T-shirts and caps is a great help to the NFA when it comes to organizing prizes for the event.

Hyde sails continue to offer the NFA excellent discount on sails, a large part of which is passed on to members who order sails through the Association. In fact NFA members can obtain up to £150.00 off a new set of sails by ordering well in advance. For detais of how to order new sails through the NFA follow the link fireflyclass.co.uk/article_218.

A big thank you to Hyde Sails for their continuing excellent service and support particularly from one very lucky young member of the NFA!
