Exposure Lights are announcing their appointment as Official Supplier to the America's Cup World Series, taking place off Portmouth's seafront in July.
Exposure Lights were approached by the race management team, to assist with illuminating the six competing AC45F foiling catamarans at night. For this year's ACWS event, the boats will reside overnight on mooring buoys, situated in the Royal Naval Dockyard. This avoids the complexities of daily craning, provides added security and more of a spectacle to Harbour visitors.
Brightly lighting the boats for public viewing and nautical safety was the challenge facing ACWS Portsmouth Racing Director, Rob Andrews. Exposure Lights are supplying the Team's a set of their new cable-less, Outdoor Event Spotlights to spectacularly illuminate each boat's hull and aerofoil sail every night during the event.
Exposure's Event Spotlights enable extended use for outdoor events or exhibitions, where an electricity supply may be unavailable or too expensive to install. These compact, wireless, waterproof LED lights can project a powerful 3200 lumens beam, for up to 24 hours before recharging. The AC45 team's will simply clip the lights to the boats after sailing, leaving the boats brilliantly illuminated, and remove them the next morning to recharge during the day.
Rob Andrews commented, "Exposure Lights were the go to solution for the tricky task of illuminating the AC45s. The race teams needed a quick and lightweight solution that will not damage their racing boats. Exposure's powerful LED lights are waterproof, lightweight, rechargeable and wire free, and most importantly designed for marine use. The event spotlights are perfect for the job!"
Win an Exposure MOB light
To celebrate the Partnership with the ACWS Portsmouth, Exposure Marine are running a competition for visitors and followers of the America's Cup to win an award winning Exposure 'MOB' (Man Over Board) strobe and searchlights. Worth £179 this powerful little LED light is designed as a marine safety aid as well as a searchlight. Simply throw it into the water and it will switch into a 'strobe' mode, visible to rescue teams for 5 nautical miles. Plus, it can be used as a conventional 1300 lumens searchlight.
