SAP partners with the 505 class for 2016 SAP 505 Worlds at the WPNSA

by Roger Deane 5 Jun 2016 20:42 BST 27 July - 5 August 2016

For the 8th year in succession the international 5O5 class is delighted to confirm SAP as title partner for the 2016 SAP 5O5 World Championships, held at the London 2012 Olympic sailing venue of Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy between 27th July and 5th August.

"We are excited to continue our partnership with the 5O5 class. The 5O5 attracts some of the best dinghy sailors in the world and through the SAP Sailing solutions sailors will be able to track and analyse all races whilst regatta operations will be streamlined for the on water race committee" said Stefan Lacher, Head of Sponsorship Technology, SAP Global Sponsorships.

SAP Sailing Analytics will provide insights and transparency to the world of sailing by utilising cloud and in-memory technology, processing GPS and wind measurement data in real time and visualising content making the regatta accessible on-site or online.

With SAP, media and commentators will once again deliver an enhanced and better informed level of storytelling whilst 2D and 3D race analytics will allow easier understanding for sailing fans – this data will be supported with current and historical analyses delivered by SAP. Live tracking will be available for the entire event and the final 3 days will be streamed live on www.sap505worlds.com.

Event organiser and UK Class President Roger Deane stated "competing teams from around the world work hard to attend and compete in our championships, the SAP partnership not only helps create a world class, international sporting occasion for these teams but through their innovative sailing analytics software and visualising technology deliver the event to a global audience, who can follow every moment of every race through live broadcasts."
