Is it a bird, is it a plane – no it's a Stunt S9 foiling catamaran and it's coming to Ullswater Yacht Club on May 28 and 29 for a special demo weekend.
Club member Rob Cruickshank, who is co-ordinating the event, says: "The Stunt S9 has been created to enable the average sailor to experience the thrill of flight. The boat is able to fly upwind in as little as seven knots of wind and downwind foils in excess of 1.8 times wind speed. If you can confidently sail a dinghy such as a Laser you can sail the S9."
Saturday, May 28, is reserved for UYC members only with Sunday, May 29 for visitors and anyone more seriously interested in owning one. The contact for bookings is Rob Cruickshank, email
When you sail fast, you need extra protection and Forward WIP, a Swiss technical sailing clothing company specialising in Water Impact Protection clothing, will be setting up a stall during the weekend demo event.
The Stunt S9 is marketed in the UK by Outlaw Sailing, www.outlawsailing.com.
