The Grafham Water Sailing Club 'Try a Youth Boat' day is on Monday 2nd May. This event will allow sailors to try a range of fast youth boats, with existing sailors on hand to talk about sailing these exciting boats.
At the event there will be the opportunity to try out the exciting catamarans the Spitfire, and the Nacra 15 the current and future Youth multihull classes there will also be a Nacra 16 big sister to the 15 to try..
Following a great RYA Youth Nationals, where a record fleet competed the future of youth multihull sailing is going from strength to strength. The brand new Nacra 15, the boat to be used for the ISAF youth Worlds from December 2016 as well as the Youth Olympics from 2018 where it will be fully foiling and a mixed crew.
The Spitfire remains an excellent choice for youth sailors starting to sail catamarans, with a wide range of competitive ages and weights plus good availability of used boats from under £3000. It is an excellent stepping stone to the Olympic Nacra 17 or Formula 18 class. UKCRA own a Spitfire which can be loaned to interested teams to try out.
Younger sailors will be able to try the Topaz 14, an excellent introduction to cat sailing for Juniors.
