Entry is now open for the 2016 5O5 World Championships and the inaugural Classic 5O5 Championship to be held between 27th July and 5th August at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Competitors should act now to enjoy the 'early bird' discount.

To date there have been over 150 registrations on the event website and competitors can now log on to convert their registration to a formal entry.

The 2016 Worlds will again show the international appeal of 5O5 racing with over 40 teams from outside Europe sending boats from South Africa, Australia and the East and West Coast of the USA. A very strong challenge from Europe is also expected with multiple World Champion Wolfgang Hunger, Jan Saugman and Phillipe Boitte leading teams from Germany, Denmark and France respectively.

However it is hoped that the visiting sailors can expect a strong challenge from the UK teams which include former World Champions Ian Pinnell and Mark Upton-Brown and rising 5O5 stars Andy Smith and Tom Gillard.

The Gul and Allen sponsored event program begins with the UK open Championships on the 27th and 28th of July as a 'pre-Worlds' warm up regatta with the 9 race World Championships starting on 30th July. The Classic Championship will run from the 30th July to the 5th August.

The 2016 5O5 World Championship event website and entry details can be found at www.505worlds2016.com
