Allen Brothers, the leading designer and manufacturer of performance sailing hardware, has announced it is to sponsor the Supernova National Championships in Llandudno from 1 to 3 July. The event has proved immensely popular, with the class association target of 120 boats already having been achieved.
Allen Brothers Managing Director Liz Adams explained, "Supernovas are a rewarding boat to sail with a simple rig, which means there is nowhere to hide. This brings out the best sailors at any level of experience. It is no surprise the popularity of the class has been growing and the racing is a wonderful showcase for Allen performance hardware, because quality counts."
Pete Bingham, Secretary, Supernova Class Association added, "There has been a strong growth of interest in the Supernova class and we are now returning to Llandudno for the third time, to celebrate the Association's 20th anniversary. It is a fantastic place to sail, with safe launching/recovery from a new slipway. I am really pleased to have Allen Brothers on board for what promises to be a superb event."
The Supernova is a "one design" single handed sailing dinghy of 4.3 metres length with an 8 square metre fully battened Mylar sail and stayed mast. It was originally designed and built by Mark Giles. It is now built by Hartley Boats in Derby.
Allen Brothers is now in its sixtieth year as a British manufacturer of performance sailing equipment. The business supports sailing at all levels from grass roots to Olympic hopefuls and is a leading exporter.
