SORC Round the Rock Race sponsored by Virgin Media Business

by Nigel Colley 13 Mar 2016 10:07 GMT 2 July 2016

The Solo Offshore Racing Club (SORC) is very pleased to announce that Virgin Media Business, one of the UK's largest network and telecoms solution providers, will be its main sponsor for the inaugural 600nm, SORC Round the Rock Race in July 2016.

"We're really excited to have the opportunity to support the team at SORC and make the first edition of this classic race a major success" said Duncan Higgins Marketing Director at Virgin Media Business. He added "The passion and excitement around sailing in the UK and internationally is at an all time high and this race provides a fantastic opportunity to support the sport at the Corinthian level"

Nigel Colley, Director at SORC commented "I want to thank Virgin Media Business for supporting our new headline race for this season. We now have 53 international entries with paid deposits' and a further 25 skippers registering their interest, so demand very much looks to exceed our 60 boat limit. We have an excellent mix of boats entered promising fantastic racing both within the IRC classes and between identical designs. Class 40, Sunfast 3600 and 3200, JPK 1010's and JOD 35's designs all have more than 4 boats racing in this highly competitive fleet.

In addition to our main sponsor Virgin Media Business, we will be announcing a number of supporting partners from the UK marine industry on our race website solofastnet.co.uk/over the next period as we count down the 117 days to the start.

The SORC Round the Rock Race will start on July 2nd 2016 in the Solent. It has been certified by the Royal Western Yacht Club of England (RWYC) as an official qualifier for their 2017 OSTAR race.

The Sailing Instructions have been issued and are now available on our website.
